Freshman Year
He wasn’t fed far from spoons made of silver, being the only child — and son — of the Cho family meant that while his parents held high expectations of him, he was also spoiled. It wasn’t to the extent that he was greedy, but more so that it began to make him restless over the fact his schedule rarely changed. His days and night were synonymous up until freshman year of highschool when he met Seungeun, a student two years his senior.Their friendship was rocky to start, Kangho trying to figure out where he fit in within Seungeun’s friend group ( which he had none ). At first it was Kangho taking the brunt for mistakes, and still would take a beating from Seungeun if the elder teen grew angered enough with him. It was Kangho’s fault for provoking him.Seungeun had his way with entertainment, and it wasn’t difficult to persuade the freshman to tag along and engage in the small things that others would tut at. It started off small, picking on and gossiping about other students, stealing, vandalism. Months into this friendship, Kangho admired Seungeun; he looked up to the junior, and had come to enjoy the macabre experiences that Seungeun coerced him into. Slowly, the sweet theatre kid with a wide smile and open arms to welcome anybody was becoming vain, impatient, and aggressively impulsive. Kangho thought he could fix Seungeun. Seungeun thought he could make Kangho worse.Things did became worse over time, Kangho expressing his worry of being caught and arrested, as they had begun harming other students. Some things he liked — other things made him anxious. He put his faith in Seungeun to cover tracks and be sure they wouldn’t get caught, and they never did. They’d begun harassing a student by the name of Hwang Sihyeok, a former friend of Kangho’s whom was turned on in favor of trying to impress Seungeun. Subtle picking on and mocking turned into bruising and beating, which turned to physically threatening the student with a knife and harming him to the brink of unconsciousness. Kangho would laugh in Sihyeok’s face, nicknaming him ‘Sisi’, an offensive term he thought suited his former friend. The first snow fell hard, three inches on the ground would make the perfect pillow for Seungeun’s plans with the classmate. They had skipped class to drag Sihyeok to the roof, shoving him against the half-wall along the edge so Kangho could tease and toy by ashing his blunt against Sihyeok’s skin. With instruction from Seungeun, Kangho beforehand forced Sihyeok’s mouth open so he could drop the lit roach and force him to chew it despite the burn it would cause.
It was all so funny to him, the way Sihyeok would squirm and scramble any chance he got — the way he recoiled and flinched. Seungeun would quickly grow annoyed of the crying, however, which led to the instruction for Kangho to hold Sihyeok over the edge of the railing to stare down multiple stories at the fresh blanket of undisturbed snow.( TW in next paragraph: Mention of suicide )“What are you cryin’ for Sisi ~? I thought you wanted to die. You’ve tried so many times and failed, you should be thanking us for helpin’ you face your fear and doin’ you a favor,” Kangho’s tongue clicked, slapping at the back of Sihyeok’s head to get him to hush his begging.“Can pretty bird fly?” Seungeun chimed in as he gave the command, Kangho following suit by shoving the boy from the ledge. He looked over to observe the spectacle of blood spatter, stifling a laugh at Seungeun’s words.
“Pretty bird can’t.”The snow had covered their tracks, making it easy to play it off as though it was a suicide when someone else found the body. Somehow Sihyeok had survived the fall albeit would spend months in the hospital… the school was better without him around though.

Junior Year
Kangho’s obsession and admiration for Seungeun grew after the incident with Sihyeok. If they couldn’t get caught from that… Seungeun must really be a God. His infatuation became less platonic, having grown to like Seungeun far more than just as a friend which had him doing any and all of Seungeun’s bidding just to be seen the same way — fishing for praise.
The following underclassman, Bae Songhyuk, would be the target he’d use to prove his loyalty and confess his affections.Kangho had smoked marijuana the morning of, daydreaming of what Seungeun had planned for their school day… because they didn’t skip class or anything ( sarcasm ).
It began the morning of, fear emitting from Songhyuk, the classmate of his due to Kangho’s actions. A cackle of laughter left Kangho’s brims as he stood with a foot over the student’s shoulder post knocking him down. Seungeun wanted to cause Songhyuk misery, and Kangho had little quarrel in appeasing that desire — it would be easy. They outnumbered the prick three to one !
The four of them were alone in the gymnasium when the fire alarm went off, blaring loudly throughout which thankfully for Songhyuk cause enough of a reason for the three bullies to abandon him and go outside to check if it was a drill.
Students flooded out of every door, pushing and shoving as they screamed in fear of what Kangho had yet to lay eyes on.
There were students who appeared poisoned or sick, jumping on others and biting out chunks of flesh as students wailed for help. The ensuing chaos was straight out of a western zombie film, leading Kangho and Seungeun to inevitably split up and make a run for safety. His heart beat loudly in his chest, eyes wide as blood spattered the walls and floors. Students before his eyes were tackled to the ground and torn into, swarms surrounding downed teens like starved hyenas. After two weeks of having survived within the school, sparingly snacking on scavenged canned goods, the three friends had found one another again with the mutual goal of leaving the school. They were nearly out of food and water, and judging by the lack of rescue teams visiting and zero service to contact anyone, they were right to assume they were on their own. A careful plan was drafted, analyzing every possible exit they could take to get away from this Hell.☼Said procedure didn’t go as planned. With the front gate the closest, all three were bolting with heavy breath and tired limbs to the exit as a large hoard pursued close behind. They were running toward the exit gate, Kangho, Seungeun, and Dohyeon. Only now they were running toward Songhyuk who stood at the other side of the closed metal gate. They shouted to him, assuming he was going to open it for them and then close it behind them to keep the infected from escaping school campus.Panic welled within a mortified Kangho, all three trapped on the inside with Songhyuk staring wide eyed at them — a deer in the headlights. He remained frozen, watching as the zombies ran at high speed closer and closer to the closed gate.“𝘚𝘖𝘕𝘎𝘏𝘠𝘜𝘒-𝘈𝘏 ! 𝘗𝘓-𝘗𝘓𝘌𝘈𝘚𝘌 ! 𝘖𝘗𝘌𝘕 𝘛𝘏𝘌 𝘎𝘈𝘛𝘌 !! 𝘉𝘈𝘚𝘛𝘈𝘙𝘋, 𝘖𝘗𝘌𝘕 —,” tears streamed rivers down Kangho’s face, both out of fear and out of anger.“미친놈 ! 𝘖𝘗𝘌𝘕 𝘐𝘛 ! ” He shook the gate’s bars ( it was too tall to climb over ), albeit it was too late. He could only struggle so much against the infected before a shrill cry of agony hollowed Kangho’s lungs. Outnumbered and forced to the ground, his flesh was peeled and ripped from his limbs; his own blood bathing him with receipts of the vendetta Songhyuk had out on them.Perhaps his internalized anger kept him alive. Chewed to the bone, Kangho should have been dead — or worse. Somehow instead of becoming a zombie, the virus infecting him had mutated differently with his genes, granting him the strength, immortality, and appetite of the walking dead albeit with a conscience.
The Junior awoke with a gasp, sitting up within the coolness of fog settling over the soccer field and entrance. All was silent, zombies roaming around yet not interested in him when he walked through inspecting the fact. All he could think about was how 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 he was — for flesh Songhyuk watched be torn limb from limb. He’d kill the bastard.
